Scalable and Sustainable Capacity Building

Transforming a school system requires wide-scale, coordinated, and sustained alignment of efforts by people working at all levels of the system.   WIDE World helps educational systems grow their school improvement initiative incrementally by engaging successive cohorts of leaders and teachers in phases over a year or more.

Through collaborative planning, WIDE World helps school systems identify a first cohort of participants—typically including both classroom teachers and administrators-- who are likely to become leaders for their colleagues.  Ideally, some members of this cohort successfully complete a series of courses or Program of Study and are nominated to participate inthe WIDE World Coach Development Program.  Coaches complete a training course and an apprenticeship with an experienced mentor.

As additional cohorts of participants become engaged in Programs of Study, local coaches develop the capacity to sustain large numbers of their colleagues. This approach enables organizations to build solid coaching and support structures, multiple levels of collaboration, and both individual and shared expertise throughout the educational system.
