Jordan Schools

ORGANIZATION: Jordan Education Initiative (JEI)

JEI is an organization established by the World Economic Forum and the Jordanian government to accelerate education reform in national schools via public and private partnerships.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

  1. Encourage teachers to collaborate with colleagues as they design units of instruction
  2. Improve assessment skills
  3. More fully incorporate technology into classroom teaching
  4. Improve and support team approach

PLAN OF ENGAGEMENT WITH WIDE:

  1. Elementary and secondary schools
  2. 50 educators (from different disciplines) and nine administrators take one online course (TSNT1)
  3. Closure meeting featuring an open discussion of participants’ experience

IMPACT AND OUTCOMES:

  1. Participants improve their assessment of student learning skills
  2. Participants feel more confident identifying relevant new technologies to support curriculum
  3. While team work elements were challenging, participants gain insight into student discomfort with teams and improved their overall team work skills
  4. Noted change from teacher-centered approach to student-centered approach
  5. Evidence of enhanced student learning and understanding in the classroom
