This course further develops concepts and strategies learned in our introductory courses, Teaching to Standards with New Technologies 1 and Teaching for Understanding 1, giving you a chance to explore the practical challenges of teaching for understanding with technology. In TSNT2 you will explore the classroom results of your Teaching for Understanding unit. Also, you will build assessment and refine technology plans for the unit. You will consider what logistical realities could impact your pedagogical plans. (Note: Participants should have planned a TfU unit before enrolling in TSNT 2. Completion of either Teaching for Understanding 1 or Teaching to Standards with New Technologies 1 fulfills this requirement.)
The core questions we will investigate during this course are:
- How can educators plan and implement curriculum that leverages new technologies to teach for understanding?
- How can educators use available technologies to improve teaching, learning, ongoing assessment, and school communities?
- How can educators use new technologies to support a culture of continuous learning in a professional community in order to reflect upon and advance their own practice?
To answer these, we will:
- Build assessment and refine technology plans for your Teaching for Understanding unit
- Consider how logistical realities could impact your pedagogical plans
- Explore the classroom results of your Teaching for Understanding unit
- Collaborate with fellow educators to develop new paths of communication on teaching, learning, and assessment practices
